The book is an excellent book for the fact you do not find to many lion chasers these days. Most people think someone is crazy for how Benaiah actually chased the lion into the pit and killed the lion with his bare hands. But he beat the odds and won!

So my challenge to you is to get out there and face your fears and take that chance to be successful in life!

Network Marketing - What To Do When Nothing Seems To Work

One of the things that many people allude to (and some come right out and say it) is that they have tried everything to get their business to grow, and nothing seems to work. They've tried online and offline systems, genealogy leads and biz opp leads, hotel meetings and home meetings, but things just aren't working.

I want to take a few minutes and give you some advice and some thoughts that may be able to help you (or those you know going through this) have success in the Network Marketing Industry.

Let me begin by telling you my personal story. I joined my first company back in the year 2002. In fact, I am still supporting that company using their products every day. I tried for nearly six years to build that business, but I never had any level of success. In fact, I think my spending to earnings ratio is at least 100:1 (maybe 1000:1).

Now, it wasn't that I wasn't passionate about the products. It wasn't that there wasn't a system that worked. It wasn't that I didn't have successful mentors. It wasn't because I didn't have prospects to talk to.

After about six years, I began working with another company. Working with that company I did much better and was passionate in what I was doing.

What was the difference?

Well, it wasn't because all of the sudden I had a good batch of leads. It wasn't because all of the sudden I now had a patented, proprietary, first-to- market, ground floor, doctor approved, miracle product. It wasn't because I now had an upline that could do killer 3-way calls with me.

The difference was - it was the right fit for me.

I believe (and you may not agree) that there are some companies and segments of the NWM industry that are harder to build than others, for some people. While one person may thrive and flourish with one company, another person may flounder and falter with the same company. It doesn't mean the second person is a moron. It may mean that there is another company out there somewhere that is a better fit.

Now, before I go on, let me say that I am not advocating for people to quit their company and jump ship to another company. I believe in perseverance, overcoming, and breaking through those barriers that can help you become a greater person. I am advocating that a person needs to be realistic and not blame the leads, the system, the upline, etc.

You see, in my first company, there were people who were making six figures a month. There are still people who are recruiting 20+ people a month. In fact, one guy recruited 110 people in one month this last year. It isn't as if the company isn't successful. In fact, they are currently experiencing record growth after 10+ years in business.

Look at the corporate world. People change jobs all the time. I'm not talking about the person who can't hold down a job. I'm talking about the person who changes positions because as he matures he comes to discover what brings him the greatest fulfillment, joy, and satisfaction. While there isn't a job that can provide all that 100% of the time, there comes a time when a person knows what works and what doesn't work for them.

For example, my favorite restaurant is a Italian place called Olive Garden. It doesn't mean I want to work there or even own the place. But, I'll recommend them all day long for someone who wants a great meal. Similarly, I still believe in the products of the first company I joined, but it doesn't mean that company is the best place for me to work and build a business.

Another example - have you ever seen a shirt, dress, or pants that looked great on someone else? But, when you go to the mall and try it on, it makes you look like an overweight, disfigured Manatee that highlights every fault and imperfection on your body. You can either buy the shirt and live with the disillusion that the shirt looks great on you, or you can be realistic and say "the shirt looks great, but not on me."

Here's the bottom line.

I believe in our industry as a whole. I don't believe every company is for every person and that every company is an equal fit and opportunity for every person. I believe it is time to stop blaming the leads, the system, the products, the upline, the leadership, etc. for one's lack of success.

While it may be in someone's best interest to persevere, break through, and achieve success with their current company, there also comes a point when it's time to admit, "the shirt looks great, but not on me."

I tried on a different shirt, and it fits great. I love what I am doing and I wouldn't go back to the corporate world for anything.

Maybe, just maybe, this resonates with you. This article was written for those who can "hear" what I am saying. There is a verse in the New Testament that says "To him who has ears, let him hear." You see, many people are bombarded with guilt because they are told that if they can't make it with "ABC" company, then what makes you think you'll make it elsewhere.

Finally, let me say this. This article is not all about finding a new company. If that is what you've concluded, then you've missed the heart of what is being said. This article is a response to people who have been complaining and blaming, and for those who have been working hard and working smart, but making very little progress. It is about finding success within an industry that would fit you. So have an open mind when entering into this business and search your heart for what fits you. Don’t give up because you failed once or even twice with a particular company.Find the company that fits you and make a bundle of money and be a success!

How to Start a Business without Money

Several decades ago, before I got interested in starting my businesses in my life, I met a friend who went from being penniless to becoming quite wealthy in a breathtakingly short amount of time. I asked her what the secret of getting rich was.

She said that you should find something that interests you and become an expert. For some reason, she became interested in turquoise and went from knowing nothing to becoming quite knowledgeable about the gem, the various sources, the market, and the players. One thing led to another, opportunities presented themselves and, presto change-o, my friend was showered with dough.

When I started my first business in Network Marketing, which was with a health company, I had no money, I had no business experience, and I had absolutely no idea how to make money in the field. Before I knew it after doing much research in Network Marketing I was making money I never had!

What drove the growth of my business was the growth of my knowledge of the Health products along with the knowledge of Network Marketing. And what drove the growth of my knowledge of health products was my love for the stuff!!!

When you start a business, what must lead the way should be your own interest in or love for whatever it is you want to do. Loving what you do miraculously attracts all the necessary resources, people and opportunities. You definitely don’t need money to start. Bootstrapping will stimulate your creativity and that is worth much more than money anyway.

Besides, money is overrated. I have found through bitter experience that there is always baggage that comes with investors’ money. You take their money and you get their karma too. What may seem like easy money is frequently filled with major headaches and not worth it in the long run. I vastly prefer the freedom and the control that comes with bootstrapping.

But I am also a practical woman who likes a fast-growing business. Therefore I have had to take on financial partners of various stripes. I have learned to be VERY fussy about who I partner with. But that is a whole other story. (In Network Marketing it is important who you pick for your team, for not everyone is cut out for that type of work).

One more thing: Your passion doesn’t have to be about any particular product or service. For me, my passion is the process – building teams, collaborating with others, wrestling with creative challenges, supplying customers with value, entertaining paradigm-shifting ideas, dreaming of the potential for fast growth, and being socially responsible to all the stakeholders, not to mention Mother Earth. I am passionate about those things, so if all those elements are present, then it doesn’t make a lick of difference if the end-product is a health product or lawyer services and identity protection (my second biz and I knew absolutely nothing about that either) or whatever.

How long do you intend to keep your life on hold?

It wasn’t long ago I had a conversation with a customer and the gentleman told me …call me back six months from now maybe I will be ready by then. In my frustration because I knew I had customer not interested in the business …I told this person …do you plan to keep your life on hold until then? It must have gotten to the person because at least I got a laugh out of the person. Then today I thought about someone I know who is from a “younger generation” who spends a great deal of his time on his cell phone, sitting in front of the TV and pushing the remote from one lousy program to the next.

People today just seem to lack ambition in life these days.

Ambition is about stretching our wings and seeking to surpass ourselves. Without it, life is a bird without wings. Ambition provides the motivation, energy and willingness to pursue goals. Without it, nothing will be accomplished. But it is not about competition (other than competing with our past best performance). Rather, it is about self-growth, self-development, self-expression, and self-improvement. It is about shining, not about outshining. We all desire a better life, but far greater it is to desire a better world for ourselves.

When measured against our vast powers, it would be tragic to go through life with little or no ambition. Yet, some seemingly do. Why is that? It is not because of moral decay, but because of ignorance or ineptitude. It is not because of a lack of ambition as much as it is a lack of self-confidence or a lack of direction. Other factors include the fear of failure or the false belief that the sacrifice required to achieve our dream is greater than we can bear. The good news is… all of these weaknesses can be overcome. The disgust we have for failing to live up to our potential can inspire us to change.

Don't be like the young man who went to a guru and said, "Oh Noble One, I lack ambition and am poor as a result. I am sick of my poverty, what shall I do?"

"Don't worry," said the guru, "everything will change in seven years."

"You mean I will be rich then?" asked the disciple.

"No, you will get used to your poverty!" answered the guru.

Don't get used to your poverty or weaknesses! Instead, use your dissatisfaction as motivation to succeed. Now success doesn't necessarily mean fame and fortune. Rather, it means the achievement of YOUR personal goals. Better to be a poor poet and happy than a rich businessman and frustrated.

Here are some more points to keep in mind regarding ambition and success.

1. Lock in on your dream as a missile locks in on a target. Remain focused on it. Always keep it in mind. Take Abe Lincoln, for instance. While still unknown, his friends would hear him frequently say, "Some day I shall be President." Despite the enormous obstacles he faced and numerous failures he experienced, he remained steadfast. When you can see, taste, feel, smell, and hear your dream in your mind, you will inevitably bring it to pass.

2. Mark Twain (1835 ~ 1910) offers sage advice, "Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great." In their vain attempt to be great, those who belittle you grow small, so ignore what they have to say.

3. Don't depend on others. Stand on your own two feet. Don't be like those who complain, "No one is showing me the way. No one is guiding me. No one is helping me." Life is not about waiting for answers, but about discovering them on your own. Your true nature is that of an adventurer, so live like one.

4. Good negotiators always ask for more than they wish to receive. This way they can negotiate 'down' to what they really want. Take a similar stance when you set your goals. That is, try to achieve far more than you hope for. So, if you fail to obtain it, you will at least achieve your original goal.

5. Acknowledge that sacrifices and effort are necessary to reach your goal, and be willing to do whatever it takes. Or, as Zambian President Kenneth Kaunda said, "When you go in search of honey you must expect to be stung by bees." True, the path to success is not without pain, but it is without suffering; it is not without effort, but it is with the joy of accomplishment. So, face your fears and don't be afraid of taking risks.

6. Have a dream, but don't be a daydreamer. Be a visionary, but don't dwell in fantasy. Don't ignore many possible small successes while dreaming of an impossible achievement. Stretch yourself, but not to the extent that your limbs fall off and are made useless.

7. If you're out of work and can't find a job you're qualified for, what do you do? Some people refuse to take low paying jobs and prefer to wait for 'better' opportunities. This type of thinking is not a sign of ambition but of a lack of understanding that opportunity is found everywhere. After all, success is not to be found in a job, but in you. It is an attitude. It is a willingness to make the best of what you have. A friend of mine is an example. He fled his war torn country with his wife and children. Arriving with just a few suitcases and enough money to survive for a short period of time, he took the only job he could find, a low paying one. Today, several years later, he is still earning far less than he would in his native country. Yet, he now lives in his own condo, has a new car and computer, and both children graduated the university and have good jobs. My friend is successful, not in the sense that he has a 'good' job, but in the sense that he is happy. Instinctively he had followed the simple philosophy of Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803 ~ 1882) who wrote, "Without ambition one starts nothing. Without work one finishes nothing."

In this business you can’t afford to lack ambition for it can either make or break you.

Why is that? Why are some people born with a fire in the belly, while others need something to get their pilot light lit? And why do others never get the flame of ambition going?

Not only do we struggle to understand why some people seem to have more ambition than others, but we can't even agree on just what ambition is.

Ambition is energy and determination. But it calls for goals too. People with goals but no energy are the ones who wind up sitting on the couch saying 'One day I'm going to build a better mousetrap.' People with energy but no clear goals just dissipate themselves in one desultory project after the next."

You need ambition. “Ambition is the path to success. Persistence is the vehicle you arrive in.”

Grow Bigger Than Your Problems!

One of the secrets to wealth is to THINK BIG! The fact is that very few people “think” big and even fewer “play” big. So why don't people want to “play big”? Usually, it’s because they believe they can't handle “big” or they don't want to handle it. Why? Because “big” often equals big responsibilities, big hassles and big problems.

One of the biggest differences between rich people and poor people is that highly successful people are bigger than their problems while unsuccessful people are smaller than their problems.

Unsuccessful people are constantly trying to avoid problems. They back away from challenges. The irony is that in their quest to make sure they don't have problems, they have the biggest problem of all... they're broke or close to it. The secret to success is not to try and shrink your problems; it's to grow yourself so you're bigger than any problem.

Imagine a “level 2” person is looking at a “level 5” problem. Does this problem appear to be big or small? The answer is that from a “level 2” perspective, a “level 5” problem would seem BIG.

Now imagine a “level 8” person looking at this same “level 5” problem.From this person’s perspective, is this problem big or small? Magically, the identical problem is now a SMALL problem.

And for a “level 10” person, it’s NO problem at all. It’s just an everyday occurrence, like brushing your teeth.

It’s important to realize that whether you are rich or poor, playing big or playing small, problems do not go away.

If you're breathing, you will always have situations that aren’t perfect.

Therefore, the size of the problem is never the problem. It’s always the size of you!

The secret then is to grow yourself as a person, to be bigger than your problems so that they become insignificant and appear to disappear. Not because the problems are not there, but because you handle them so easily.

The bigger problems you can handle; the bigger business you can handle, the bigger responsibilities you can handle, the more customers you can handle and the more money and wealth you can handle.

Remember, your income can only grow to the extent that you do!

A universal principle states that “at all points in time you are either growing or dying”. That’s why it is essential to keep learning and continue to work on yourself.

This month commit to growing yourself.

This month, do not shrink from problems, do not avoid problems and do not complain about problems. Practice not letting problems bother you. In fact, don’t even call them problems; refer to them as “challenges” or “situations”.

This month, practice handling problems with elegance and ease. The way to do this is to let go of your attachments, as well as the emotion and drama you create when you don’t get what you want. Just stay present and handle one situation at a time with an open mind and an open heart. Trust yourself and trust the universe that everything will work out in the end.

The bottom line is that if you become a master at handling problems, what can stop you from happiness and wealth? The answer is NOTHING!

Is It Fear of Failure or Fear of Success?

What's holding Individuals back?

I talked to an individual I knew well who had an interest in working from home, yet I couldn’t help sense this person had fears and something was holding her back. She had wanted to venture out into this type of business for years. She described her goals she wanted to make however; she had taken limited action to make those goals a reality and to be successful in her life. (This even sounds like many individuals who are in the business and do not take the action they need to take to be successful).

On the surface, it sounded like the changes she wanted to make were for financial gains for herself. Talking further with her, she realized she was really speaking of a level of service (how she wanted to help people improve their quality of life) and have personal fulfillment (actualizing her values, purpose and vision) that would come from aligning who she is and what she wanted to be in a BIGGER way.

We discussed the things she told herself that allowed her to remain stationary. Her initial objection was, “If I put myself out and take some risks, what if I fail?” (What if this or that happens???) I replied to her, “With all my years of experience you are thinking about what you want… without committing to action, you have already brilliantly SUCCEEDED in FAILING! Congratulations!” Her eyes widened, and she burst out laughing. By doing nothing, she insured her success at failing!

Going forward in our talk together, we focused on her attitudes about success/failure AND identified her values, needs, purpose and vision. Increased self-awareness enabled her to make choices and design strategic actions to create greater life satisfaction and self-fulfillment.

If you are considering a change you've been thinking/talking about for a while but haven’t made much progress….

To learn more about what may be holding you back from moving forward, ask yourself:

What is your definition of success in your life? What does success mean to you? Be specific.

Identify specific successes you have made so far. What made them successes for you? What value did you receive from succeeding?

What fears, concerns or assumptions do you have associated with success?

How would your life change if you were/felt more successful? (At anything!)

What would you have to give up? What would you gain?

Who would you become? (Happier, self-confident, authentic, stronger?)

In exploring your attitudes about failure, consider the following:

What is your definition of failure? What does failure mean to you?

If you fail at something, does that define YOU as a failure?

What specific failures have you experienced? What value have you received from failing? Be specific.

What fears, concerns or assumptions do you associate with failure? Are they true?

Can there be success in failure? If yes, how? If no, think it out and find out what they are.

Ask yourself---If you could not fail what would you be doing? Who would you be?

Fears of success/failure are two sides of the same experience. By definition, success and failure are perceived from multiple viewpoints. Both results offer opportunities for self-discovery and change. Developing the clarity to know who you are on the inside is a key ingredient to achieve rich outcomes with ease, strength and focus! To live fully, you must fully participate—succeeding and failing for the joy of the experience.

Be adventurous this New Year or End this year with a BIG bang and overcome your fear of either failure or success! Remember you do not have to go through this alone for everyone in this business has experienced what you are going through now and you will have a lot of support getting through this.

Become a Self-Reliant Person

What is a Self-Reliant person? A Self Reliant person is when you are reliant upon yourself; trusting your own powers or judgment on anything in your life. When you become self-reliant you become and develop a self-confident personality. Many people think that a person who is self-reliant must be aloof, disinterested or unfriendly towards others. This is a totally false conception. Think about it if you were that way how successful would your business be? By not being dependent, the self-reliant person can relate to others with a compassion and empathy while, at the same time, retaining self-confidence and poise. Able to stand on his own two feet, he does not feel the need to manipulate others.

The main deterrent to self-reliance is the mistake certainty that others are smarter, wiser or more intelligent than we are. And so, we look to them for our happiness and welfare. The person who is dependant in this sense must always reach out to something external. He wants people circumstances, and conditions to do for him what he should be doing for himself. This causes him to depend, manipulate, conform, compare and to compete.

Self-reliance is not only the belief that you can handle things and become successful, it is something more than that. It is having the courage to listen to inner promptings for a hint of the kind of success you should want. It means taking your cue from what you are--not listening to something outside yourself—to get an idea of what you should become. (hear that---quit listening to what others say and listen to your heart). When we learn to read the “signs” correctly and follow the kind of life that the urgings of our talents and temperaments tell us to pursue, we are happy and successful. We are ourselves and we are strong.

Follow this advice for this is my words of wisdom to you. Believe me it has worked for me and it can work for you! Start now and Become a Self-Reliant Person!

Marketability of the products is important.

You can try it for yourself at first, and then try the opinion of friends or family about their opinions regarding the products that you intend to market. If you get good and positive remarks, then that is a good signal for you to start.

If you do not get their approval much more if you are not convinced with the marketability, then do not plunge in to that program. You have to market the products that you have one hundred percent trust. A good tip though is to stick with the company six months to a good year because many times it takes a while to get familiar with some products. With any business you have many things to learn, especially if you have never gone into business for yourself before.

3. Talk to other network marketers.

The difference in holding a business and in Network Marketing is the competition that is being handled.

In a usual business, you are not interested to see other sellers because you are thinking that he or she might be a competitor but in Network Marketing, talking to other network marketers from the same company is not a competition.

You can ask other associates in your company about certain tips, guidelines or the flow of business in certain place or groups of people.The tips and guidelines will help you develop your own set of marketing techniques that you deem applicable to the products.

4. Learn to advertise.

Advertising is the key in Network Marketing.

Increasing the awareness of the people that you are selling the products to is very important and the best way to let the whole world know is through advertising.

Advertising comes in different forms, it can be through direct marketing, radio, magazine adds or though the Internet. Keep in mind direct marketing has been around for many years and in this business you are selling yourself first before they even get to know the product and the business. Direct Communication is the most affective.

Positive lessons from Network Marketing

The most positive lesson I had in network marketing was realizing that the passage to success is often times the hardest aspect of business. The passage is what the enemy to success will tempt you with the most.

Your enemy on the journey to success really isn't after making you a failure, the enemy simply wants you to quit. Hence the reason there is more quitters than failures in the game of success. The passage can be the hardest process of all.

When you enter into the camp of success you have a very real enemy. If you haven't met the enemy you just haven't gotten close enough yet. You see the enemy is a confirmation for you. The enemy is not a road sign to show you've gone the wrong way, quite the contrary. The enemy is a confirmation that you are heading in the right direction. Let me warn you however the enemy’s tactics are slick and at times they can be fierce, hence the reason why more than 85% of people on the road to success quit. Most don't fail, they quit, plain and simple. And that my friend is the goal of your enemy. The enemy’s goal is to make you withdrawal, retreat and go backwards and ultimately quit.

The enemy isn't in the business of kicking people out of success. And failure really isn't the thing we most fear- the truth is we often times fear success so much and the passage to get there can hold things we have hid from, refused to deal with and simply won't go thru our entire lives. So truly, in success, there are far more quitters than there are failures.

Success in business, success in sports, success in your marriage, success as a parent, it doesn't matter how you apply this, it's the same truth across the board. There are three tactics to be on guard for, and when you learn to recognize these maneuvers of your enemy, you'll be prepared to act offensively and conquer.

Misinformation- this is a tricky and long time trick of the enemy of success. Frankly it's probably the single biggest cause of failing in Network Marketing. Misinformation, lack of information, confusion- they all hang out together. Your enemy wants you misinformed so he can create confusion.

Confusion- a cousin of the first strategy and one that has hit our world at epidemic proportions. Confusion is the root to depression, suicide and fear at it's core. Confusion distorts and misinforms- look again at point one. If you are confused you most likely won't act and if you aren't going forward in action you aren't likely getting anywhere which leads to the result your enemy strives for, you quitting.

Lack of information- your enemy wants you to lack the information you need to take action so that you can achieve your goals. I intend to lead you to the information you need so read on…

So what can you do win? Stay on top of the game. Realize the passage might be the hardest part of your success journey. To go from over thousands in debt to being 100% totally debt free there was a passage, a bridge I had to cross and one of the most valuable ingredients to that crossing was to continually do the things I knew would make me money. I didn't spend a bunch of time researching, planning, strategizing repeatedly- I made a commitment that for 3 hours per day, just 3 hours, I would do the things that make me money. Examples-Money doesn’t grow on trees –
Money is hard to go by so we should take care of it….

-You can’t teach old dog new tricks-
That is a negative remark because it is saying an older person can’t change

Is it positive or negative?

Attitude- About how you feel about what you know

What is your attitude about being on this call tonight?

Hey maybe I can learn something---or do you care less---
What’s your attitude about everything in life?

Actions-How are we going to get those areas in our life---by taking action

Are you doing everything that you are supposed to be doing in your life?

Do you want romance ---how do you get it?

Are you spending money and you are not supposed to?

Prepare a game plan----

All you need to do is activity

Results- In your business do you have all the results you need for your business?

Are you always blaming?
Are you willing to change yourself?

You chose to not pay your bills---
You chose to live in this nasty life---

Take the road of responsibility----in order to be responsible you need to use discipline in your life to gain control of it.

1)Access-Recognize the way you feel…access your situation and discover your fears and what it is you are feeling that is holding you back. What emotions are you going through?
2)Accept-Accept the way you are feeling and ask yourself WHY am I feeling afraid or whatever you are feeling.
3)Decide-Decide to make a change for the better to solve WHY you feel a certain way. You need to have faith that having an awareness of the problem and accepting will get you on the right track and you need to trust yourself that you will take the appropriate action to find your solutions to your problems.
4)Act- Make an action plan-MAKE MASSIVE ACTION-That will allow you to move forward and we do this by keeping track what we do. Having a tracking sheet and recording our actions will allow you to be accountable for your actions.
